Albert’s grandchildren we would like to build up a history of Albert and his pals using the information saved and built up over the years by our grand mother Doris Modley, we think any lover of variety and music hall, comedy and pantomime would enjoy our site .We shall not bore you with loads of dialogue only genuine pictures programs newspaper articles scripts jokes and comments.  We shall start as far back as we can. Albert was born in Liverpool in 1901; his father was a professor of physical culture They moved to Yorkshire where Albert embarked on  his career as an entertainer.   

 

 

 

Modley's Restaurant

 

Modleys restaurant is situated on Morecambe seafront next door to where 

Albert made his home for over40 years. Doris his wife kept every newspaper article, billposters, 

and correspondence with theatre agents and artistes, his own hand written jokes, pictures, costumes, providing the future enthusiasts of that era with a wonderful array of visual material. We have pictures on the wall of most of the artistes of that era (mainly 40sand 50s) some personal video material of his appearances on TV.

 

The restaurant serves traditional a la carte plus lots of fish and seafood, we have moved into unusual meats also, to give the customer high protein foods with little. or no cholesterol.  

 We throw a good party or two! For those interested! You can take the place over for your own private party providing numbers are suitable, at no extra cost for the facility.

We have a cosy booth area for romantic nights out!  We hold weddings, christenings, funeral teas, office party’s etc. We have a few bedrooms for those who would like to make a night of it! Or if you are in the town at family celebrations we have a late key! 

For working persons we have special rates for long stay guests. All rooms are en-suite with TVs, coffee tea, and central heating. Good hearty breakfasts.

 We cater for special diets as I am fully aware of all my ingredients and have knowledge of certain illnesses of which foods cannot be tolerated.

 

We have a relaxed atmosphere and hope to make every one welcome.
